Photographer Captures The Complexity Of New York City Through Scenes Of Urban Life

Share

To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting and focusing on it in a compelling way.

Elliott Erwitt

Paul Kessel lives and works in New York City. Before he became passionate and dedicated to photography, he specialized in clinical psychology and psychoanalysis, and was a university professor for several years. His life changed in 2008, when he began taking photography courses at the International Center of Photography. Since then he has combined his two main interests by devoting himself to Street Photography, and taking intense portraits of passersby, street vendors, and couples in love that he has encountered in the various New York boroughs. Through his lens Kessel captures all the complexity and beauty of New Yorkers, giving us an unusual and up-close perspective of the Big Apple.
