Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.

American artist Scott Dow makes wood sculptures using a chainsaw, and his creativity knows no bounds. Dow works out of his studio in northwestern Pennsylvania, where he produces incredible wooden artifacts, such as the counters and piano bars you will see in the photographs below, from which emerge a crocodile (an extraordinary piece that took 100 hours to complete), a snake, and other fascinating creatures. Over the course of his career Scott Dow has worked as a tattoo artist, painter, bronze foundryman, marble and stone sculptor, furniture designer, and currently focuses on woodwork, and specializes in making figurative sculptures of humans and wildlife, as well as angels and creating shelves.
