Italian creative agency Garage Italia is redefining the relationship between classic automobiles and modern sustainability with its Icon-e project. This initiative blends the timeless appeal of vintage cars with the cutting-edge trend of electric mobility, proving that passion for classic vehicles and the pursuit of eco-friendly transport can go hand in hand.
The first transformation under this project features a vintage Fiat 500 converted into an electric vehicle in collaboration with Newtron Group. While maintaining the car’s iconic silhouette, Garage Italia introduced significant design updates. The roof and door panels have been removed for a breezy, open-air feel, and the seats are crafted from handwoven natural rope. A 5-inch digital dashboard replaces the original instrumentation, while LED headlights, a Fiat medallion with a built-in charging port, and a minimalist gear selector—marked with a hare and a turtle to denote speed settings—add modern flair.
