Classical Characters Meet the Streets

Julien de Casabianca's Urban Art Revolution

Share

Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.

Edgar Degas

In 2015, artist and filmmaker Julien de Casabianca launched a groundbreaking art project that bridges classical and contemporary art by “transferring” characters from renowned paintings housed in prestigious museums onto the walls of city streets. De Casabianca captures these masterpieces through photography and meticulously prints and pastes them onto urban surfaces, often transforming the most neglected neighborhoods into open-air art galleries. This approach not only revitalizes the environment but also democratizes art, reminding everyone that art can be accessible to all.
