Elmgreen & Dragset draw inspiration from everyday life, using a sharp and unsettling sense of humor to critique contemporary power structures. Their large-scale public installations, blending architecture and performance, have gained international recognition. Notable works include Prada Marfa (2005), an isolated Prada boutique standing in the Texas desert, and Short Cut (2003), an installation featuring two cars seemingly emerging from Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, created in collaboration with Fondazione Nicola Trussardi.
Through their bold and thought-provoking imagery, Elmgreen & Dragset challenge audiences by reshaping expectations and confronting realities with both wit and spectacle. Their work continues to provoke dialogue and redefine the role of art in public space.
