If you've got an old soul, you'll be enamored by the delightfully old-fashioned work of Moscow-based artist Elena Limkina.
Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.

Each week, she shares a glimpse into her personal sketchbook, where the pages vividly depict stories of nature, architecture, and classical art. Although Limkina is a master of watercolor, she is equally skilled with a dip pen, using both to add depth and light to her botanical and scientific illustrations. “I’ve been painting since childhood,” she notes on her official website. “Though I studied medical engineering, my passion for fine arts ultimately took over.” Her style is clearly influenced by a range of artistic movements, including Baroque, Renaissance, and even hints of modernism. Her floral paintings, in particular, evoke the essence of Georgia O’Keeffe’s work. Take a look at some of our favorite pages from Elena Limkina’s exquisite sketchbook below, and let us know which ones you’d love to have framed on your wall.
